Students and graduates from Golf Academy of America (GAA), Orlando campus, were given the unique opportunity to participate in one of two events being played in the Orlando area. The Tavistock Cup, considered the most prestigious private golf event in the world, was played at Isleworth Golf Club, featuring players who have combined for 54 major championships and more than 725 worldwide victories. More than fifty GAA students and graduates assisted the Tavistock Group with tournament scoring, special events and crowd movement. The students interacted with players, members, residents, sponsors & invited guests, which offered another unique opportunity to potentially increase their golfing network. This event was broadcast live on Golf Channel from Isleworth.
The Arnold Palmer Invitational, played at Bay Hill GC, hosted by "The King", had over 200 students participating as caddies for the Monday, March 22nd and Wednesday, March 24th Pro Ams. More than 25 GAA Orlando students and grads additionally assisted the Bay Hill Golf Staff in the Golf Shop & Merchandise Tent. This event offered students a great opportunity to walk "inside the ropes" with a tour player and also network with sponsors and special guests. Those assisting the Bay Hill Golf Staff received a "behind the scenes" look at a PGA Tournament setup and the merchandising for an event which hosted over 100,000 spectators for the week. The weather cooperated all week (until Sunday afternoon) and provided a great experience for all involved.
"We are looking forward to participating next year at both of these outstanding events," says GAA Campus Director Brad Turner. "This is just an example of the kinds of events GAA students are able to experience, something no one else can offer."
