On June 13th, Roy Case, President Case Golf Company – Golf Course Design spoke to students of Golf Course Design and Management of Golf Course Maintenance classes 3rd and 4th semester students. Mr. Case discussed “All you ever wanted to know about real golf design, but were afraid to ask. He presented how he stumbled across breaking into the design industry as he was by trade a civil engineer. Students were very intrigued by Roy explaining that the golf design industry has no “formal” training.
He stressed to students, getting involved in the golf design industry involves furthering their current golf experience adding computer added design, landscape design, or architectural land planning. With the combination of a golf education from the SDGA and additional formal design education career roles are unlimited. Case Golf Company is a full service golf course design firm responsible for every phase and aspect of the design process, from the initial concept to the finished product. Over sixteen years of his company Roy has designed courses mainly on the east coast and the Caribbean specializing in the reuse of landfills.
