Golf Academy Staffers Make Showing in Military Golf Tourney
Jul 15, 2009
Several staff members from the Golf Academy of America campus in San Diego recently participated in the Welcome Home Golf Tournament at Camp Pendleton, California. Director of Admissions Henry Salgado and Program Director Buck Page actually played in the tournament. They were teamed with a colonel who is stationed at Camp Pendleton.
"It was a real thrill for us to play in this great tournament and salute our Marines who are coming back home," says Salgado. "But the best part was to be able to play with Colonel Steven Hanson, a veteran of thirty years with the U.S. Marine Corps."

Also participating in the events was Campus Director Rich Iorio, who competed in the straightest drive contest. It should come as no surprise to those who have seen Iorio on the school's state-of-the-art computer equipment that he took top prize in the competition.
The Golf Academy schools have begun a renewed emphasis on making military personnel aware of the programs offered at the various campuses so that those preparing to leave the military will know about the opportunities for careers in the golf industry. A new web page updates military veterans about special services and programs offered to veterans by Golf Academy of America. Additionally, the school provides a special information center manned by people who are available to answer questions specific to military educational benefits and how they might be applied toward preparing for a career in the business of golf. That number is 800-342-7342.
