San Diego Golf Academy GM250 Field Trip Summary

The San Diego Golf Academy – San Diego 3rd semester students visited Barona Valley Ranch Resort & Casino on May 29th and 31st to tour the golf course maintenance facilities.
Sandy Clark, CGCS toured students around the golf course to explain current fairway aeration, the state of the art pump house, and the unique 360 degree accessible maintenance facility. Highlights of the visit where understanding how to maximize the irrigation while not disrupting environmental sensitive areas noted by The Audubon Society. Sandy also explained how he balances working with the Barona Indian Reservation Regal Tribe to achieve their missions of operating as an amenity to the casino and not be solely concerned with maximizing revenue. Students highly spoke about the visit and how they are not able to associate class discussion with the real picture. Barona Valley Ranch Resort & Casino is the host to the 2007 & 2010 Nationwide Tour Championship. Kevin Neisch, PGA SDGA – San Diego Campus attended the visit with the students.
