Golf Academy Staff Member Receives Significant Award
Aug 12, 2009

Staff member Alan Flashner, from the Orlando campus of Golf Academy of America, has been named the 2009 recipient of the coveted Bill Strausburgh Award. The award is presented by the North Florida Section, East Chapter of the PGA of America. The recipient is recognized for improving the employment situations of his and her fellow pros through service to the community. Flashner was honored for his record of service to his PGA Chapter, Section, and Association, including examples of leadership, involvement in civic activities and local charitable causes, as well as outstanding character.
The Award is named in honor of the late Bill Strausbaugh, a PGA Master Professional in the Middle Atlantic PGA Section. It was established in 1979, and is presented to PGA Golf Professionals who, by their day-to-day efforts, have distinguished themselves in mentoring their fellow PGA Golf Professionals in improving their employment situations and through service to the community.
"We are, of course, proud of 'Flash' for receiving this recognition," says Golf Academy of America President Chris Hunkler. "But we see what he does and how he does it every day and are not one bit surprised. He is an exceptional individual and a real credit to the PGA and to Golf Academy of America."
