The CEO of Birmingham, Alabama-based Education Corporation of America (ECA), Tom Moore, makes it clear. "Having a strong Career Services department at our schools is central to delivering our brand promise. We are committed to graduating and placing students who are prepared to make great employees."
Moore says that is why the company has recruited Scot Stapleton as Senior Vice President--Career Services, overseeing placement and employer relationships at ECA schools, which include Virginia College, Culinard, Golf Academy of America, and the soon-to-open Ecotech Institute in Denver, Colorado. Stapleton's primary responsibilities will include forecasting employment demand for graduates so the schools are enrolling and graduating students to meet the needs of an ever changing workplace. At all ECA schools, Career Services is charged with developing a deep knowledge of what employers look for in a successful employee and working with academics to give graduates what they need to be successful.
Part of that involves building employer relationships, which will be another key initiative for Stapleton.
"It is important that we ensure that our graduates are 'career ready'," Moore says. "Scot will continue to make certain that Career Services at all our schools assist students in their job search, resume development, and practice interviews in addition to having a strong understanding of the required skills for their chosen careers."
Stapleton brings over 25 years of leadership experience in sales and marketing roles with Nestle' Brands and the Coca-Cola Company. Most recently he was a Consulting Partner with Miller Heiman, an internationally recognized sales process and training company. He received his Bachelor's degree in Marketing from the University of South Florida and his Masters of Business Administration from the University of North Florida.
