Student, Golf Academy of America in San Diego; Assistant Golf Professional at Aviara Golf Club
Feb 22, 2013
"I just recently accepted the position of Assistant Golf Professional at Aviara Golf Club. Overall, I am very happy with my decision to come to the Golf Academy of America. Getting into the golf industry in Southern California is hard enough and the Golf Academy gives you the tools to make it happen.
I started looking at Golf Academy of America because I wanted to work in the golf industry. I was living in Chicago with a great job but it wasn't what I loved doing. I made the decision to go to the San Diego campus because of all the area offered. But before I moved across the country, I married my beautiful fiancé. Three days after our wedding, we packed the car and drove out west.
During my third semester, I picked up an internship at Fujikura Composites working in their Fit On Studio. I used the club building skills I learned at the Golf Academy to succeed at Fujikura. I spent my time re-shafting, re-gripping, adjusting lofts and lies, and tracking some ads for the marketing department.
My experience at Golf Academy of America was a great one. I learned so much about the golf industry that people take years to learn. The staff at GAA was top notch, they know what they are talking about and can give you the tools to succeed."
