In keeping with Golf Academy of America's exceptional staff, we're pleased to recognize Alan Edhegard in recently becoming the third staff member of Golf Academy of America - The Carolinas to earn PGA Certification in Instruction.

This accomplishment rounds out the staff of 12 PGA professionals, five of whom have advanced degrees, including one PhD and three masters' degrees. The staff also boasts one PGA Master Professional and three PGA Certified Professionals. There will be more. All staff members are currently enrolled in the PGA certification program.

We're confident this assembly of talent is among the reasons that our staff routinely receives between 4.5 and 4.9 (out of a 5-point scale) on student evaluations in the classroom.

The following Golf Academy of America - Phoenix students received their Henry-Griffitts Certification:

Ian Mulrooney, Pam Markiewicz, Joe Goellner, Dave Harris, Greg Novak, Eric McConnell, and Sunny Park.

Past graduates who have received this certification have been very successful in their teaching careers and have a skill that very few teaching professionals possess...but many of you know that already.

We want to pass along a great compliment we received about three of our students: Mary Kaeppel, Brian Buckley, and Ben Burnett. They volunteered at the 2008 Myrtle Beach Marathon at the Whispering Pines Golf Course.

Jackie Emhof, who has run the Baggage Claim portion of the Marathon since 1998, needed to depend on her volunteers this year more than ever due to health issues affecting her family.

In a letter of recognition, Jackie summarized her appreciation of our student volunteers by writing, "Mary, Brian, and Ben exemplify the future of the PGA; hard working, volunteering in the community, friendly, caring individuals."

We couldn't agree more!
