What are the admissions requirements for Golf Academy of America?

Do I need a certain handicap to attend your school?
Golf Academy of America does not have a handicap requirement to attend our school. However, since playing golf is a part of the curriculum, you should speak to the Campus Director to determine if your playing ability is appropriate for the track you are pursuing within our curriculum.

Does Golf Academy of America accept transfer credits from other schools?
Previous college work is automatically evaluated by the Academic Dean upon review of an accepted student's file. Up to 12 credit hours can be granted, under the following circumstances:

  1. The courses taken by the student are determined to be the equivalent of Academy courses.
  2. The student has received a grade of C (2.0) or higher in the course from an accredited college.
  3. The student is taking sufficient credit hours to satisfy Academy residency requirements.

What kind of degree will I earn?
For students who satisfy all of the requirements for graduation, Golf Academy of America awards an Associate of Applied Business (California, Arizona and South Carolina) or an Occupational Associate (Florida and Texas) Degree in Golf Complex Operations and Management. How long does it take to complete the Associate's degree program?
You can complete the Golf Academy Associate's degree program and be ready for a golf career in as few as 16 months! See our Degree Programs page for a complete overview of Associate's and Bachelor's degree programs.

Is Golf Academy of America accredited?
Yes. Golf Academy of America is accredited by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS), 750 First Street, NE, Suite 980, Washington, DC 20002-4241, (202) 336-6780.

How many students are in the classroom?
There are typically 25 students per classroom, depending upon the course.

What are your graduation rates?
Throughout all of our campuses our graduation rates have been consistently above 85%.

What does tuition include?
Students do not have to pay extra for important items such as green fees, range fees, textbooks, tournament fees, private lessons and other aspects of a golf education. With our one-price golf tuition, there are no surprises.

Can I use my VA benefits at Golf Academy of America?
Golf Academy of America's curriculum is approved for the training of veterans and persons eligible for VA educational benefits. Varying enrollment limitations may be imposed by the VA or the state approving agency. Read more about using VA benefits at Golf Academy of America.

Is financial aid available to international students?

How soon can I be employed in the golf industry?
Although Golf Academy of America cannot guarantee that all students will become employed in their chosen field, we have an 85%+ placement rate and most students are recruited directly by golf companies or otherwise find work within 3 months upon completion of their degree. Now, Golf Academy of America offers Focus/Career™ to students and alumni. Golf Academy of America's trained staff helps students find affordable and convenient apartments. Each Golf Academy of America campus is located in major metropolitan areas with ample housing options.

Typically, Golf Academy of America has a combined enrollment of over 1,000 students. Enrollment varies by semester.

What is a typical day like?

Do I need to bring a computer?
It is not necessary to bring a computer. Each Golf Academy of America campus has a computer lab available for student use. For students who do bring a computer, all of the campuses offer WiFi access.

What is Orientation?

Orientation day is designed to help students make a smooth transition to our school. The day gives new students a chance to register for classes with the assistance of Golf Academy of America staff and to attend a comprehensive introductory program that outlines the program, schedules, and expectations of GAA. Incoming students will meet with staff and tour the campus. New students are encouraged to meet fellow classmates, staff and faculty members, and counselors.

Do you have on-campus housing?
Golf Academy of America does not offer on-campus or off-campus housing. We partner with local housing providers to provide reasonably priced, flexible, and convenient housing for students attending each of our four golf college campuses.
