What do you do as Head Golf Professional?
I'm responsible for managing all areas of the golf operations from the shop to all of the employees. Duties include teaching, merchandising, marketing, budgeting and member relations.
As head golf professional, I only hire Golf Academy graduates. Both of my assistants are recent graduates and I fully support the program and the kind of professionals they produce every semester.
How did Golf Academy of America prepare you for your current position?
With Golf Academy of America, I had an excellent foundation of knowledge to build upon as I became an assistant and went through the PGA program. Everything I learned at GAA was useful and beneficial to me and my career.
What were the biggest influences on your career choice of golf?
The biggest influences on my career choice were my parents and Arnold Palmer. After meeting Mr. Palmer at a charity event years ago, it dawned on me how many people's lives you can touch through the game of golf.
Tell us about your career accomplishments since graduation.
Since graduation, I have become a PGA member in less than two years and have recently passed my certification test to earn my two gold stars in Golf Operations. My next goal is to win a Carolinas PGA Section award for my work as a professional or merchandiser. I am already looking forward to obtaining my Masters Professional status in four years.
What are your career goals and how do you think your education at Golf Academy of America is helping you achieve them?
My Golf Academy education allowed me to get a head start on my goals including becoming a PGA Professional. One of the biggest things that helped me at GAA was learning how to teach and that in turn helped me with my own game.
