A.J. Kavanaugh

Graduate of Golf Academy of America in Orlando

Director of Golf

Current Employer: Brunswick Golf Club in Brunswick, Maine

What keeps A.J. Kavanaugh motivated? He has a passion for golf and the business that advances the game.

Kavanaugh is Director of Golf at Maine's Brunswick Golf Club, a public course that dates back to the 1800s. He attended Golf Academy of America in both Phoenix and Orlando, and says his education exposed him to methods of golf instruction, marketing and numerous other aspects of the industry. "I came to GAA with a passion for the game of golf," says Kavanaugh. "But I graduated with a passion for the business of golf as well."

He advises students to take advantage of the complete education Golf Academy of America offers, not just the courses about playing and teaching golf. “A successful person in the golf industry must wear many ‘hats,’ so try to diversify your strengths while attending GAA,” Cavenaugh says. “Being a good golfer and golf instructor are key, but so is your ability to run the business within a budget, have food and beverage experience and be able to communicate with your customers.”
