Graduate of Golf Academy of America in San Diego
Current Employer: Golf NB in Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada
When Bari Gourley moved to San Diego from a small town on the east coast of Canada, she was only 19. She was enrolled at Golf Academy of America and says that her education was well-rounded between business and teaching technique. Today, she uses a little of both skillsets as the Technical Director of The New Brunswick Golf Association, or Golf NB. This non-profit organization is the official governing body for amateur golf in New Brunswick, created and controlled by golfers for the benefit of the game.
“I have enjoyed all aspects of the golf business but feel I am at my strongest when I am teaching the game,” says Gourley. “There is never a bad day in the golf business!”
She advises Golf Academy of America students that the more they put into their education, the more they will take away. “Meet as many people as you can at the school, in the community and at local golf course,” says Gourley. “Learn about the whole golf business, and once you have joined the workforce start to focus on your favourite part.”

Best part of her job?
“My favourite part of the golf industry is being a teaching professional in the PGA of Canada. Coaching junior golfers is my true passion and I like teaching the youngest novice golfers to the elite juniors.”
