Graduate of Golf Academy of America in Dallas
Current Employer: iScoreGolf in Houston, Texas
Golf Academy of America in Dallas graduate Guy Gilmore saw a need, and he created a solution. Gilmore owns iScoreGolf, technology that provides PGA-style live scoring for charity golf tournaments, corporate and association events. Before this venture, he also worked in the golf industry with LeaderBoard, and as an independently contracted caddy.
Gilmore says that, "enrolling in GAA was the best thing I have ever done." He is confident he has referenced all of his Golf Academy of America courses since graduation, but finds the business and technology courses particularly useful. "Business helped me market to golf and country clubs, and technology has helped me with golf tournament software," Gilmore says. "GAA was everything I needed and more."
He tells students to come to Golf Academy of America ready to learn. "Be a sponge," Gilmore says. "You will learn many things, and it may seem overwhelming. Absorb, everything. After you graduate and you are working in the industry, squeeze the sponge! You will be able to take all the knowledge and make it your own."
What's in His Bag? Titleist
Best part of his job: "After graduation I have not worked a day since. When you love what you do, you'll never work a day in your life. I have started my own company, iScoreGolf. We help charity and association golf events put on the best possible event for their players and sponsors."
