There's no questioning that Joseph Dipre is an athlete. He was a high-school All-American football player, and went on to play at the University of Pittsburg. However, he says that golf was always his first love.
Today, you'll find Dipre working as General Manager of Indian Wells Golf Club in Murrells Inlet, South Carolina This par 72 course was designed by Gene Hamm, and has earned a reputation as a "shot maker's" course, meaning that over 18 holes, you'll likely use every club in your bag.
He says that in his career, business knowledge has been a benefit, but his biggest asset is people skills. "I believe that people come to a golf course to be entertained for four to five hours," says Dipre. "As a golf course operator, my job has a lot to do with my ability to communicate. From the customer to all my employees, being able to communicate and understand each person is very valuable."
Dipre says his education has been a key to success. "GAA helps you develop valuable relationships with numerous people in the golf business, from your instructors, to your fellow students, and numerous assistants and pros you visit with on a weekly basis," he says. "These relationships have helped me advance in my career tremendously."
