To be successful in the golf industry, you must hone a variety of skills. For PGA Professional Matthew Freitag, passion is the most important. “Passion is something that one really needs to work on and develop,” he says. “It takes a lot of time and organization to learn this skill. All of the other skill sets, such as business, people skills and merchandising, are givens to succeed in this industry.”

Freitag’s education was a catalyst for advancing his career. "Golf Academy of America guided me with my skillset with career placement,” he says. “My career has included arguably the best professionals at some of the most respected facilities, and you do not get here without a drive to succeed.”

He advises students to align themselves with the best in the industry. “The ability to network will become your ability to succeed,” says Freitag. “If you surround yourself with the best, learn how to communicate and understand your audience, you will achieve your career goals.”
