Mike Griffin

Graduate of Golf Academy of America in Myrtle Beach

Director of Golf

Current Employer: Reservoir Creek Golf at Naples in Naples, New York

Mike Griffin has always had a knack for teaching golf skills, particularly swing mechanics. "The hands-on experience I got at Golf Academy of America in Myrtle Beach just made me a better teacher," says Griffin. "I still do swing consultations every day."

Early in his golf career, Griffin opened an indoor teaching facility called Avid Golf. "A big part of my business was club making and repairs, so I thank GAA for those classes as well," he says.

These days, Griffin serves as Director of Golf for Reservoir Creek Golf at Naples, a public course in upstate New York. During the off season, he is an artist in residence at the Rochester Folk Art Guild, where he produces ceramic functional art.

Griffin offers the following advice to those seeing a career in golf: "The golf business is not an easy business to stay in. You have to have an overall love of the game."

Best part of his job: "The golf industry is all about customer service, and that's why I remain in the business. I get to interact with so many different people each week, good and bad, that every day is different."
