For PGA Professional Mike McCabe, "networking and building relationships is what this industry is all about." He is General Manager of Old American Golf Club in The Colony, Texas, where he is responsible for revenue management and overseeing operations in areas like golf, food and beverage, sales, marketing and agronomy.
During his time at this nationally-ranked member/resort course, McCabe has spearheaded a staggering amount of growth, including construction of a new clubhouse, opening a new restaurant, development of a TOUR-caliber practice facility and restoration of an antique farm barn for use as cart storage. His Golf Academy of America education got the ball rolling. "It taught me all areas of the industry so I could decide which road to pursue," says McCabe. "From playing, rules, teaching, club fitting and golf professional to management, GAA allowed me to learn about all areas of the industry."
He challenges students to find the area of the golf industry they are passionate about and pursue it.
