Current Employer: Old American Golf Club in The Colony, Texas
For PGA Professional Mike McCabe, both networking and building long-term relationships are vital for success in the golf industry. He is General Manager of Old American Golf Club in The Colony, Texas, where he is responsible for revenue management and overseeing operations in areas like golf, food and beverage, sales, marketing and agronomy.
During his time at this nationally-ranked member/resort course, McCabe has spearheaded a staggering amount of growth, including construction of a new clubhouse, opening a new restaurant, development of a TOUR-caliber practice facility and restoration of an antique farm barn for use as cart storage. His Golf Academy of America education got the ball rolling. “It gave me the confidence and credibility that I needed to be successful in this challenging industry," says McCabe.
He advises Golf Academy of America students to find what they love and pursue it. “You must have a true passion for what you do in order to be successful,” says McCabe. “The GAA will provide you a foundation and platform to have an edge on the competition. Stay focused and believed in yourself, as you now have the tools to be successful and continue to grow on.”
