Current Employer: Prestonwood Country Club - Hills Course in Dallas, TX
After working almost 20 years and earning the status of Journeyman Electrician, Rhett Alvord was ready for a change. He worked in sales for a short time before deciding to pursue a career in golf at Golf Academy of America in Dallas.
He sites people skills and golf operation management knowledge as the key to obtaining his current position as Membership Director at Prestonwood Country Club - Hills Course in Dallas. “Attending the GAA gave me a better overall understanding of the golf industry,” says Alvord. “From product sales to club fitting to golf management and club operations, I am so much more well-rounded within the golf industry because of this education.”
Now as a hiring manager, Alvord says he hires exclusively through the Golf Academy of America. He advises students to treat class as a full-time job. “I want the student that rarely misses classes and wants to be in the industry.” Alvord says.
