Current Employer: Monaghan Golf Group in Vancouver, British Columbia
After graduating from Golf Academy of the South, now Golf Academy of America in Orlando, Tom Monaghan went on to found Monaghan Golf, a Canadian golf operations management company that keeps guest experience, revenue generation and cost control at the forefront of actions. Monaghan currently manages six courses in British Columbia, and is responsible for more than 150,0000 rounds of golf annually.
He says that, "business acumen, leading people, attention to detail and relationship building," have been the keys to his success, stating that Golf Academy of America, "gave me the theory needed to apply to experience. GAA was the best 16 months of my life to that point."
Monaghan advices students to get into the golf business for the right reasons. "We all start with a passion for the game, but find your niche and pursue that with everything you have," he says. "Have long and short-term goals and create a solid plan to fulfill those goals."
