Assistant General Manager

Current Employer: Butler National Golf Club in Chicago, IL

For Yosvani Barreiro, the greatest factor in personal development and professional growth within the golf industry is building relationships with both colleagues and those you meet on the course. Business, technology, merchandise are all important, but a focus on individuals trumps it all. “Foster relationships and people in this industry will become like family to you,” he says.

While at Golf Academy of American in Orlando, Barreiro received the Conrad Rehling Award for excellence in work ethic, attitude, game improvement and leadership skills. He went on to assume a role as golf operations manager after graduation and is now the Assistant General manager of a private club in a Chicago suburb. Of his time at Golf Academy of America, Barreiro says, “GAA afforded me the opportunity to gain firsthand knowledge and create realistic expectations of the golf industry.”

He advises students to take ownership of their careers. “It might not be your club on paper, but take pride in it,” Barreiro says. “Respect and appreciate people and their ability to make you better and more knowledgeable!”
