Happy 40th Anniversary GAA! A Special Note from Campus Director of GAA Phoenix

Happy 40th Anniversary GAA! A Special Note from Campus Director of GAA Phoenix

The Golf Academy of America will be celebrating 40 years of serving the golf industry.

My name is Tim Eberlein and I am the current Campus Director of GAA Phoenix. I have worked for GAA now for 20 years in various capacities.

After graduating from the original campus in San Diego in 1991, when it was called the San Diego Golf Academy, I am proud to be both a graduate and representative of the school.

I have attended over 60 graduations, met thousands of golf professionals and was able to pursue my dream of becoming a PGA Master Professional. I owe my success to the educational foundation and contacts I made while attending the school in the early '90s. My greatest enjoyment is hearing the success stories of GAA graduates.

Michael Doctor is the 2013 PGA Golf Professional of the Year and will be recognized at the PGA of America Awards on Jan. 22, 2014 during the PGA Merchandise Show.

The accomplished PGA Master Professional is also directly connected to some of GAA's own.

Two GAA alumni are employed by Doctor at Skaneateles Country Club in New York: golf shop assistant Tim Lake and PGA first assistant professional Tony Nelson.

During a recent interview with Doctor, he said, "I have never stopped studying the golf swing or observing great teachers teach." Among the few teachers he credits by name is Brendan Elliott – instructor at GAA Orlando campus, founder of Little Linksters Association for Junior Golf Development, and a 2013 PGA Section Award Winner.

"Brendan Elliott and U.S. Kids have helped me make teaching the game more fun - not just for juniors but for adults as well," Doctor says.
