Harry Simmes, Jr. - Outside Services Assistant Manager at Northwood Club, Dallas, Texas
Mar 18, 2015
Harry Simmes, Jr. is a 2013 Graduate of Golf Academy of America
What do you do as Outside Services Assistant Manager?
I assist the outside services manager with the day-to-day operation of the staff, through training of new staff and in hiring. I help set and maintain policies and procedures and direct member relations.
How did Golf Academy of America prepare you for your current position?
Golf Academy of America prepared me for the challenges with classes such as Marketing, Advanced Teaching, Golf Course Operations and Business Law. All the classes were key in understanding the process of day-to-day operations of any golf course. I have been privileged to work at some very high-end private courses, and GAA gave me the knowledge to be the professional staff member at all of them.
For anyone who has the passion and enjoys the game, I would highly recommend Golf Academy of America. It opened my eyes to the potential out there with career choices in golf.
What were the biggest influences on your career choice of golf?
My passion to teach. I have taught for a few years the basic fundamentals and have had a few PGA professionals suggest I make a career in doing so.
