Mike Ray Certified Personal Golf Coach – GolfTEC San Antonio
Jul 10, 2013
A few years ago, I decided to leave engineering school to pursue my dream of becoming a golf professional. I really wanted to make my vocation my vacation. I love golf, and I love figuring out how to help people with their golf swings. This inspired me to pursue a career in the golf industry.
In May 2010, I graduated from the Golf Academy of America in Orlando. After moving to San Antonio to pursue a job in the golf industry, I sent my resume to GolfTEC. Soon thereafter, I got a meeting that turned into an interview, and then an on-the-spot lesson. Unbeknownst to me, this would be the turning point in my career.
Since May of 2011, I have been working full time at GolfTEC, having taught close to 1500 lessons and sold over $120,000 in my first year. GAA gave me the confidence and experience necessary to be able to hold my own in an instructional environment. GAA helped me achieve my goal of becoming a teaching professional.
For those wanting to get into the golf business, I'd advise taking a close look at yourself, ensuring you are very people-friendly and sensitive to all types of problems. Every interaction you make with a client or guest has the potential to change your future. Get really good at creating and maintaining those relationships, as they are the key to success!
