How did Golf Academy of America prepare you for your current position?
I use what I learned at GAA every day in the course of my duties at Celebration Golf Club.
Joshua Deer is a 20-year-old Golf Academy of America Dallas student from North Richland Hills, Texas who was diagnosed with autism when he was three years old. In May, he participated in the Els for Autism Golf Challenge finale in Las Vegas, where he shot an 81. Joshua's family collectively raised $15,000 to help people with autism through the Els Foundation.
Living in Orlando has many advantages. Sure, there are plenty of things to see and do, including great professional and college sports, amusement parks and shopping. But for golfers, Orlando is nothing short of heaven. As students at Golf Academy of America in Orlando have discovered, attending the Orlando campus is like hitting the jackpot if you love to play lots of golf on some of America's best courses.

What do you do as Director of Golf?
I'm preparing the opening of the world's most northerly links course with 18 holes at 68 degrees in cooperation with Troon Golf. I'll be in charge of tournaments under the midnight sun running 24 hours!

What do you do as Tournament Director?
I connect with client to achieve proper format, special event holes, scoring, pre- and post-round food and beverage and sponsor signs. Coordinate with outside staff team to ensure an excellent experience for all players.

What do you do as PGA Assistant Professional?
Manage day-to-day operations. Caddie Master. Perform all of the club repair. Perform 50% of custom club-fittings. Perform 40% of lessons. Run Junior Camp. Assist in purchasing/merchandising. Responsible for tournament operations. Help train Member Services staff.

What do you do as Assistant Golf Professional?
I run two men's leagues, three junior golf camps, three adult golf camps, monthly clinics, private and semi-private lessons, and am responsible for all club fitting, repair and alteration.

What do you do as Head Golf Professional?
Oversee all aspects of golf operations at Grizzly Ranch Golf Club.

What do you do as First Assistant Golf Professional?
I teach private lessons, conduct the men’s, ladies, and junior clinics with the Head Golf Professional and conduct two-day Junior Golf Schools for area junior golfers. I plan, prepare and administer 50+ tournaments per year. It’s also my responsibility to hire, train, schedule and manage 10+ Outside Services personnel, in addition to purchasing merchandise and overseeing proper inventory control procedures in the Golf Shop.

Tell us about your duties as Technical Compliance Analyst.
Working towards Certified Quality Technician (CQT) through the American Society for Quality (ASQ). Support Compliance Department with statistical process control, incoming/outgoing materials analysis, Technical research, label compliance, sensory, quality improvement initiatives.
