Robert Hansen – Director of Golf at Lofoten Links, Lofoten, Norway

Jul 11, 2015

Robert Hansen

Robert Hansen is a 2009 graduate of Golf Academy of America.

What do you do as Director of Golf?
I'm preparing the opening of the world's most northerly links course with 18 holes at 68 degrees in cooperation with Troon Golf. I'll be in charge of tournaments under the midnight sun running 24 hours!

How did Golf Academy of America prepare you for your current position?
I wouldn't have been in this position without my education from Orlando. Three years as a GM in the Oslo area and I was headhunted for this job.

What were the biggest influences on your career choice of golf?
20 years in the IT business with constant lowering margins, and I wanted an international job with passion and excitement!

Tell us about your career accomplishments since graduation.
As a member of CMA Europe, I've taken Management Development Programs Level 1-3, and I'm on my way to become CCM (Certified Club Manager).

What are your career goals and how do you think your education at Golf Academy of America is helping you achieve them?
CCM in 2016 and moving to a warmer place, once Lofoten Links is running smoothly.

Tell us more about Lofoten Links.
This is a true links course, which will be featured on CNN and Sky during 2015. We have two months of 24-hour tee times in June and July, and the course is open April through October.
