GAA Grad Dale Means Returns to Share with Students

Third semester students at Golf Academy of America in Phoenix had rave reviews for a GAA alumnus who visited campus recently to talk about what it was like to "start over" in the golf business after 26 years as a public school educator.

Fred Barr, PGA, Director of Career Services, reports that Dale Means, a 2012 graduate, did a superb job with a no-nonsense presentation about the hard work, commitment and creative thinking students will use in the marketplace—all skills that GAA reinforces.

About the presentation, one student commented, "I felt Dale was able to put reality into what we need to do to become successful. He let me know how much work is needed—or at least put it in perspective."

After almost three decades as a teacher, athletics director, coach and principal, Mr. Means is now Head Golf Professional for Two Pro Club Management at the Desert Pines Golf Course in West Texas. Two Pro Club Management manages several courses in small cities and towns in Texas.

"Now that I am the Head Golf Professional, I can appreciate how that entry level at position (at Mesa Country Club) prepared me for my future," said Mr. Means. "With the classes taken at Golf Academy of America and the mentoring by PGA staff, the total experience has been a plus in my success. My advice to all graduates is to just get started!"

Dale Means is a Golf Academy of America in Phoenix Alumnus.
