Patriots Under Par Veterans Day Events

On Monday, 11/11/13, veteran students from Golf Academy of America will celebrate Veterans Day with the Patriots Under Par event benefiting the Salute Military Golf Association. Golf Academy veteran students from all five campuses will play 11 hours of golf on Veterans Day, with Michael McVeigh attempting to play 11 rounds in 11 hours in Dallas, TX.

Watch Michael McVeigh beat the clock and play 11 rounds of golf in 8 hours and 10 minutes.

The Salute Military Golf Association (SMGA) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that helps rehabilitate wounded U.S. veterans through golf experiences.

Golf is a rehabilitative experience for many veterans. Greg Gossett, campus director of Golf Academy in Dallas, TX, says, "Golf helps take veterans' mind off things and gives them a new focus and direction. We just try to help them as much as we can."

Last year's participants in the Patriots Under Par event played a total of 1,080 rounds and 19,440 holes of golf in support of America's veterans.

Follow this year's events on Twitter with the hashtags #golfacademy and #SMGA, and support Veterans' Day nationwide with the hashtags #VetsDay1111 and #vetsupport.
